Data & methodology

Reserve countdowns are model estimates derived from official anchor publications, not real-time sensor data. Values labelled “estimated” are clearly separated from official figures. See the project README for full methodology.

Reserve data is scraped from the official DCCEEW Australian Petroleum Statistics XLSX (“Consumption cover” sheet) — refreshed daily, published monthly with ~2 month lag.

Station prices for ACT, NSW, NT, TAS, WA are live via official APIs and public feeds (refreshed every 30 minutes). QLD, VIC & SA show sample data while their APIs are being integrated.

State-level averages in the comparison table are computed from live station data where available. States without live feeds fall back to snapshot data.
